Our qualifications

Chartered Financial Planner

We were absolutely delighted to be named as the UK’s first Chartered Financial Planner firm in May 2007. This is an important step in the development of our business and something that all of our team are extremely proud of. We have always aimed to be one of the key drivers for change in personal financial advice in the UK and this is yet another step in the right direction.

We understand that there are just over 1800 Chartered Financial Planners in the UK (as at October 2009), although we would expect this number to rise steadily as graduates start to see financial planning as a viable career alternative to some of the more established professions. Four of our Financial & Investment Planners have been awarded Chartered Financial Planner status.

In addition to the individual title, financial planning firms themselves are now able to apply for chartered status. To call themselves Chartered Financial Planners, at least half of a firm’s directors or partners must hold chartered status from the CII or from other approved organisations. Additionally, at least 90% of the firm’s client-facing staff must be Chartered Insurance Institute or Personal Finance Society members.

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM Certification

Six of our financial planners are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals. This is an internationally recognised qualification for financial planners. It is the highest standard available and holders are actively monitored and re-licensed annually.

In our experience, many private clients do not have a trusted adviser and where they do, they are often not satisfied with them due to a lack of pro-activity and regular contact.

There are just over 900 CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals in the UK (as at October 2009). A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional's main focus will always be on their clients' financial goals and ambitions, concentrating on how these can be achieved, rather than on a product sale. A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER practitioner will provide you and your family with guidance over your lifetime, making the advice multi generational.

All CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals in the UK are licensed by the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) and the International CFPCM Board. All CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals must therefore adhere to the Board's ‘Code of Ethics’ and must demonstrate their ability and understanding following the standards of the four Es. These are; Education, Examination, Experience and Ethics.
